Design-Build process

additionThe Blue Sky Remodeling design build process is an iterative process aimed at providing you with the space you desire at the budget you set.

Initial Appointment

We will meet with you at your home to determine all of your design and budget requirements. Measurements will be taken of your space and notes made of existing conditions in order to eliminate surprises and to match the finish level of your home. At that time, we'll go to the drawing board and create a design of the new space based on your input of how you'd like to use the space and what is most important to you.

Drawings and Plans

For basements we will typically perform the drawings in-house. For kitchens & baths, drawings are typically not required, however, the kitchen or cabinet designer you work with will usually draw plan views and elevations of the remodeled space. For larger additions and renovations, we will work with an architect to draw up the plans or work off of plans you may have already had drawn up. Once you approve the plans, we will begin the process of estimating costs.

The Estimate

basement3The estimate will be broken out between constructions costs, such as framing, drywall, etc. and allowance for finishes. We will work with our subcontractors and vendors to value engineer the design. Allowances for finishes are provided based on the level of finish you desire. Additional options such as fireplaces or wet bars can be broken out separately so you can see how they affect the overall budget. We will work with you on multiple iterations of the budget until we arrive at a level you are comfortable.

Construction Agreement

Once the budget is set and you have chosen to use Blue Sky Remodeling as your contractor, we will draw up a construction agreement and a project schedule. You will be assigned a project manager and we will conduct a hand-off meeting with you, the sales team and the project manager. The project manager will then begin securing a permit and ordering construction materials. Your job will be to select finish materials and to work with the project manager and vendors to order them based on the project schedule.

Construction

The project manager will coordinate the scheduling of all sub-contractors, installation of all materials and scheduling and completion of all inspections. You, the client, can expect daily communications on the project progress and multiple walk-throughs to ensure all aspects of the planned design are met. Open and often communication is the foundation of this entire process and is something we guarantee in order to make your project dreams a reality.
